Mike and Barb Merchant have owned Stretch-n-Grow, FUN tastic Fitness franchise in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area since 1996. Barb has a degree from the University of Cincinnati in Elementary Education, and a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Kentucky University in Human Resource Management. She is also a level one certified Zumba Instructor, has certification in Nutrition, and studied Therapeutic Yoga. Barb has also written curriculum for Stretch-n-Grow International. Both Mike and Barb are certified Youth Fitness Instructors, CPR and First Aid Trained. Mike attended the University of Cincinnati, in Business Administration, has coached children for many years in baseball, soccer, and basketball. They live in Anderson Township and have three children, Matt, Stephanie and Joe. Mike and Barb are very active in their church community, and volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Youth Fitness Guidelines:
Our Youth Fitness Guidelines are in compliance with AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America) ACE (American Council on Exercise) ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). Our curriculum and exercise glossary are safe, effective and age –appropriate.
Every instructor is a Certified Youth Fitness Specialist in which they must complete a course of study and pass a 100 question test. Our comprehensive training program is rigorous and ongoing. Each instructor attends bi-monthly training sessions to maintain the integrity of our program. Each instructor is required to have a FBI and a BCI background check, a current physical, and are certified in CPR and First Aid.

Stretch-n-Grow is the world’s largest network of children’s fitness professionals, first originated in Galveston, Texas in 1992. After an intense study and the discovery of alarming statistics concerning the health status of America’s young children, the founders of Stretch-n-Grow, set out on a mission to change the course for children everywhere. Stretch-n-Grow has expanded to over 1000 cities across America, Canada, England, Ireland, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Portugal and Spain.
Our exercises and curriculum were developed under the supervision of an Advisory Board consisting of pediatricians, nutritionists, educators, and fitness professionals. Our Advisory Board and Affiliate Advisory Council regularly review our program to ensure that our participants enjoy the most effective and safe exercises available for children.

Gotta be Fit & Fun, Lean...but not Mean! Our Youth Fitness Specialists deliver high energy, engaging aerobic and muscular fitness classes.
If you have an engaging personality, a passion for dance, and love working with young children, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Must have knowledge of ballet terminology. Choreography experience is very helpful!
Our bouncy & bubbly cheer coaches work with children ages 3 to 12 teaching cheers, chants, jumps, arm motions and dances. This camp is tons of FUN and requires tons of cheerleader ENTHUSIASM! Previous cheerleading experience required. Tumbling experience is very helpful!
Put your coaching skills into action teaching baseball, basketball, field hockey, soccer, football and track & field to children ages 3 to 12. Previous coaching experience required.
Our peaceful and loving Yoga teachers enjoy working with children and promoting peace from within. Previous teaching experience required.
